Supporting people on your doorstep and across the globe
The Lisa May Foundation was established by Councillor John May, former Mayor of Surrey Heath, in memory of his cherished daughter, lost to Thailand’s Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004. Originally intended to raise funds for disaster relief around the world, Councillor May realised the Foundation could also benefit people living in the local community, and has selected four charities to support under its umbrella:
Frimley Park Hospital – heart 2 Heart Appeal
Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the UK for both men and women. Frimley Park Hospital has launched a £1.5million appeal to buy equipment for a 24 hour primary angioplasty unit, providing the most effective heart attack treatment.
The PROSTATE project
Run entirely by volunteers, the charity provides support for men with prostate cancer, raises awareness and encourages early testing. Donations fund state of the art equipment, specialist nurses and medical teams, as well as research into new treatment and improved diagnostic techniques.
Parity – For people with multiple disabilities
Parity provides pioneering services, information and support for people with multiple disabilities. Its two day centres in Camberley and Farnborough provide individual support so each person continues to develop and achieve, also giving respite to their families.
Kennel Lane School
Kennel Lane is an inclusive school for children and young people with a range of learning needs, aged between 2 and 19. The principal purpose of the school is to enhance and develop the lives of its students, enabling them to enjoy life and make a positive contribution to society.
