As well as tables and chairs for people to eat at there’ll be a whole host of great attractions including face painting, a raffle, photography sessions, jewellery, cupcakes, children’s rides, May pole dancing, a nostalgic ice cream van, fashion show, three music stages with live bands, charity stalls, lots of food and drink outlets including street barbecues and lots more. The event will open at 2pm with a special musical surprise.

For me twitter is a treasure trove of local serendipity. For example, I met the incredibly talented Tony Hart via twitter. You might remember some of the awesome photo blogs he has done for the Residents Network at Farnborough Airshow and Great Windsor Park. I also met Claire & Jason Ing on twitter who have also contributed some awesome photo and video blogs for the Residents Network. In fact I have met so many people from the Surrey Heath Community via twitter, it would take for ever to list them all here. Best of all I have become very good friends with all of them.

But my latest exciting twitter discovery is really cool because I have taken the big step from a long love affair with Blackberry smart phones over to Apple. And not being one to do things in halfs, I also bought an iPad while I was at it.

Apple-Bay is based in Mytchett and are Apple specialists. They recondition, fix, sell and are experts in more or less anything Apple.

When I told my wife (who works for a leading firm of Media Buyers in Farnborough) about Apple-Bay she informed me that she had an iPad in a draw with a broken screen at work and wondered if Apple-Bay could fix it. She had taken it to Apple who had quoted her only £50 less to fix it than what she could buy a new one for.

Keen to put Apple-Bay to the test, I turned up to their Mytchett workshop to see if it could be fixed. “Of course” was the answer and the next day when I went to pick it up I was astonished that the iPad was as good as new. This iPad was really badly bashed up. The screen was smashed in several places and the casing was badly scuffed and dented. But the Apple-Bay team had restored it to its former glory and all for a fraction of the cost Apple wanted to charge.

I also gave them my own iPad so they could put a screen protector on it. Anyone who has tried this knows that it is virtually impossible without bubbles and dust particles, but Apple-Bay put the screen protector on my iPad without any drama at all and only charged me £7.50 . Worth every penny.

If you are after a top spec AppleMac then you should check out apple-bay. They have some real bargains on offer and often the machines are significantly more powerful as they have been upgraded to a better specification. These guys know Apple products inside out and best of all they are on our doorstep and part of the community.

Also if you are considering taking the leap from PC to Mac then the guys at Apple Bay will transfer all your data for you so that you don’t loose any precious data. Always a worry when you do a restore.

For me, discovering Apple-Bay just when I have moved over all my main hardware to Mac is reassuring as they are just around the corner.

Oh and they make incredible coffee too.

Neighbours of the site where Andrew Bandosz applied to build two homes on a garden backing out onto Ullswater Close, Lightwater, have gone to the local authority to have the matter looked into.

But Surrey Heath Borough Council, where Mr Bandosz works as development control manager, declined to say what it was specifically investigating, only saying that “a number of issues” were raised.

In a statement, a spokesman said: “The council is currently investigating a number of issues raised by residents through the council’s internal complaints procedure and relating to these planning applications.

“Inquiry into these issues is not yet complete and further comment cannot be made until our inquiries are complete.”

The council did not say whether the complaints related to construction work or the planning process.

A total of 20 people wrote to the authority about the plans when they were under consideration, 17 of them objecting to it and some calling it “garden grabbing”.

The council’s planning committee granted permission in February by seven votes to six with 22 conditions attached to it.

The unit is now described as being a transmitter or repeater for a citizen or pirate band radio station.

Roads are now re-opened and cordons have been lifted.

Initial plans to evacuate some local residents were not carried out as the incident was constantly monitored and public safety assessed.

Surrey Police initially received a received a report of suspicious activity around The Maultway in Camberley just after 10am this morning (Monday, 21 May).

A suspicious device was discovered on land close to Colony Gate, near to the road’s junction with the Old Bisley Road.

The Camberley News is reporting that occupants of homes around Habersham Drive on Heatherside have been advised to stay indoors and Surrey Police have confirmed that some homes around Cheylesmore Park have been evacuated.
