As London 2012 Olympic fever revs up, online nominations are invited for local people who’ve raised the bar or gained success in sport during this past year.

The Surrey Heath Sports Awards in October will recognise and honour talented athletes, teams, clubs, coaches and committed volunteers from all over the borough.

Surrey Heath Borough Council who organises the awards is asking people to nominate their community sporting hereos in nine categories, including Young Sports Team, Sports Club, Disability Sports Award, Young Volunteer, Sports Personality, and Outstanding Service.

Every year the success, talent and commitment of the sporting community in Surrey is recognised by both local and county level award ceremonies.

Winners of the local awards are automatically put forward for the prestigious Surrey Sports Awards later this year, with the chance of being nominated at a regional level.
