Recent events has meant that the Residents Network has received more attention than it normally would.
Some residents assume because I publish an item on the site or allow a comment through, that I agree with the author. That is simply not the case. However, I believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion and an opportunity to air that opinion.
I need to make it clear that as the moderator of this site, I remain neutral.
All of the content on this site in respect of recent events has been produced by local residents and not me.
My role as a local councillor, representing the ward of Mytchett & Deepcut means that I represent all local residents and their views. In all local issues I have to keep an open mind to ensure that when the time comes that I have to make a decision on any given matter I am able to do so with clarity having been given an opportunity to study all of the facts.
Recently, I have received a vast amount of communication, some of which has sought my views on local matters. In order for me to remain open minded I am unable to give a view without all of the facts. In respect of Deepcut, as there has not been a planning application submitted, I have not been given an opportunity to study all of the facts to be able to form a view.
So I trust local residents will understand that I will not be pressured into giving a view one way or another. But in case there is any doubt as to my position, let me make it clear. I am open minded to any proposal. But all local residents are assured I will study all proposals and views diligently in order to arrive at an informed decision when the time comes.
